Trent Salo

Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, with nearly a decade in professional basketball as a physical therapist, strength coach, and Vice President of Player Health & Performance. Founder of The Tendon Lab, a practice devoted exclusively to Achilles and patellar tendon health.

Trent is a physical therapist and former collegiate point guard at Calvin University who now works exclusively with the Achilles and patellar tendon. He is based in Traverse City, Michigan, and travels to St. Augustine each month to see patients and athletes at Performance Science + Rehab. At The Tendon Lab, he uses ultrasound tissue characterization (UTC) imaging and force plate testing to evaluate tendon structure and function and inform return-to-play decisions, an assessment stack rarely available outside professional sport. He continues to consult with professional organizations in the NBA and MLB on return-to-play processes and high-performance systems.

He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences and a Master of Science in Kinesiology and Health Promotion from the University of Kentucky. He is currently pursuing a PhD in tendon health at the University of Copenhagen and is the creator and host of the Traverse City Tendon Summit, an annual gathering of leading tendon researchers and clinicians.
